The Federación de Baloncesto de Madrid (FBM), governing body of basketball competitions in the Autnomous Community of Madrid, and Sportway, a leading innovative content management solutions provider, have signed an agreement that will expand the broadcasting of local basketball to unprecedented levels.
Starting with the 2025-2026 season, Sportway will be the exclusive production services supplier for all official competitions organized by the Madrid Basketball Federation, as well as develop and manage the new dedicated OTT platform FBM TV. The partnership will provide comprehensive media coverage to Madrid clubs and competitions held in the region. With this initiative, FBM reinforces its commitment to digitalization, the promotion of basketball, and fan engagement. In turn, the extensive Madrid basketball community will enjoy high quality content through a robust and accessible platform, adapted to current market demands.
As part of the agreement, Sportway will progressively equip clubs participating in FBM competitions with state-of-the-art automated video production systems, enabling the delivery of professional-quality live and on-demand broadcasts. Sportway will also leverage the unique digital environment developed by GesDeportiva to integrate comprehensive statistics and data overlays directly into the video signal, improving the viewing experience for fans, players, and coaches alike.
This partnership will directly impact FBM clubs growth by giving them the kind of media exposure that was once exclusively reserved to higher competition levels. As a result, grassroots and youth basketball gain visibility, prestige, and social recognition. Ultimately, the agreement between the FBM and Sportway is a commitment to innovation and represents a technological and strategic advance that boosts the professionalization, transparency, and closeness of local basketball.
For Francisco Olmedilla, Secretary General and General Manager of FBM, “the installation of automatic cameras with artificial intelligence and the agreement reached with Sportway represent a decisive step in the modernization of our basketball system. This project not only strengthens the visibility of our competitions but also provides direct benefits to both the Federation and its clubs. It also allows all matches."
Regardless of the category or venue in which they are played, to be broadcast with professional quality. This means greater reach, greater exposure for our players, and a platform for families, fans, and coaches to follow each match live and on-demand."
For his part, Marco González, CEO of Sportway Iberia, stated, “this is a landmark agreement, and one that we are extremely proud of. The partnership with FBM seeks to boost the visibility of emerging talent, attract new audiences, and create a comprehensive digital ecosystem for local basketball, reflecting a shared commitment to innovation and long-term growth. We are very excited to support the Federation in its goal of driving the growth of the sport by providing new technologies that further facilitate fan engament.”
